Wheat Ridge Parks & Rec

This was a great place to get in a water workout in a warm water pool, which is our favorite. We came here to use the pool. They have a lap pool and they also have a warmer pool that includes a lazy river and a couple of lap lanes, along with the children’s play area. We were there on a weekday afternoon well swim lessons were going on, but had plenty of space to use one lap lane and the lazy river. They have a set of steps to enter by the lazy river and they have a chairlift that enters into one of the lanes. There’s also a hot tub that has steps with a rail to get in. In the family locker room there are two accessible changing rooms with a bathroom and shower, including a shower bench and adjustable showerhead. They have an automatic door opener, which is phenomenal, however, the lock is up pretty high, which makes it less accessible for wheelchair users, and short people. there are two other changing rooms in the family locker space that don’t have the automatic button, adjustable showerhead, or shower bench, or grab bars on the toilet, but are still fairly large and have space for a wheelchair user There was plenty of accessible parking and automatic doors to get into the building. The space exiting was pretty tight due to how they have the chairs arranged, somebody with a larger wheelchair may have to exit through the entry lane. We also used the steam room, there was no automatic door, but the door wasn’t terribly heavy. We’ve been to lots of rec centers in the Denver Metro area, and this is definitely one of the most accessible.

This is a beautiful, clean & well managed Recreation center! It has a grande entrance, tons of elliptical, rowing, weightlifting, bicycling, treadmill & other workout machines, with an indoor walking track & gorgeous workout room with wooden floors & tons of blocks, excercise balls, platforms for stepping up, etc to use-all on 2nd level. Great locker areas & showers. A steam room & dry sauna, adult only, co-ed hot tub in the relaxation pool areas. Swimming: huge lap pool that goes to 12ft deep. Another small lap/exercise pool, tiny kid's area (I've never seen the water slide operating, which is the one thing that would hope they improve). Thru have a fun lazy river pool that you can float/swim in, or use to walk against the current! Friendly, helpful staff & a quick check in-usually 2 desks open! Comfortable, size inclusive seating with a stone fireplace. Racquetball & basketball court. Children's supervision, I'm pretty sure? Highly recommend, what a community resource. I'm here on a Thursday at noon & though it's moderately busy, there are many machines available to use. An eclectic crowd that are all here to excercise, not show off or judge, which is nice. The facilities are also always impeccably clean. Good spot. Discounts for Wheatridge residents & options like day passes, electronic punch pass package or monthly recurring memberships. Affordable!

My 19 year old little sister passed away about 5 years ago. She worked here. They were so kind to put out a bench, tree, rock and flowers to honor my sister. Absolutely beautiful. The actual center is nice as well. The swimming pool is fun. Great staff. Would reccomend!!!

Clean and affordable gym. Lots of things to do. I wish the mens bathroom showers had walls or curtains. Maybe changing rooms. I don't like getting nakey in front of strangers. Kinda weird and outdated. Also I mainly joined for the hot tub. I get sore from hiking and wanted to relax my muscles. Unfortunately it's more of a luke warm tub and not really a hot tub.

My family needed a space to celebrate my little sister’s life, and my mom suggested the Wheat Ridge Rec Center. From the very beginning, it felt warm, welcoming, and just right for bringing everyone together. We were expecting at least 50 guests and felt comfortable reserving both the Columbine and Dahlia rooms to accommodate more. Even without the kitchen, the setup worked beautifully. We arranged nine round tables along with a few rectangular tables for snacks, and added extra seating along the back. We also included a projector and screen to share photos of her life, which brought everyone closer as we shared. What unfolded was truly special. More than 80 people came together—family, friends, and community—to honor her, share memories, and celebrate her spirit. Katie, thank you for helping us plan such a meaningful gathering and for easing some of the stress during such a heartbreaking time. It meant more than we can say. ❤️
