Keystone Ski & Ride School

Not worth the money. I’m an experienced snowboarder from the East Coast, and my kids (12 and 14) already knew the basics from prior trips. Because Colorado is a different level, I booked lessons at Keystone Ski School to help them progress. I was very clear that I wanted them working on green runs, building toward blues, improving turns, and getting comfortable on the lift. Instead, they spent the entire day on the bunny slope riding only the magic carpet. When I rode with them afterward, it was obvious they had not made any meaningful progress. For roughly $700, that was very disappointing. There were also several other issues. Lessons were moved from River Run to Mountain House about a month before the trip, which was a big inconvenience since our lodging was at River Run. We were told lunch would be hot, but the kids were given cold cuts to make their own sandwiches. The check-in process was also very disorganized, with staff sending us from person to person. The instructor seemed nice, and the kids liked her, so I cannot say for sure whether the issue was with her or with the ski school’s communication and structure. But overall, the experience did not justify the cost, and I would not book again.

We spent about $1,000 on one day of ski school for 4. Two 3yo’s for a half day, a 7yo for a full day, and a half day for 1 adult. I felt positively about the kid’s lesson. The instructors were good with children and my 7yo made great progress. Now onto the adult lesson. It started late and my class was 8 adults who had never skied before with 1 instructor. The instructor was knowledgeable and did the best he could with what he was given. Organizers never should have assigned 8 newbies to 1 instructor. We spent the entire lesson going down a mound of snow you could have found at on a hill at a park. We didn’t even make it to the bunny hill my 7yo was confidently skiing on his second day on skis ever. Good investment for children but adults shouldn’t waste their money. I literally went down a mini snow mound at the base of a bunny hill about 6 times in the entire lesson. I’ll practice at my local park next time it snows and have as much practice.

Keystone Ski School does a great job with entry level skiers and boarders - especially with youngsters. Everyone knows it can be challenging to teach a new skill to a kiddo that is outside of their comfort zone! But all of the instructors I’ve seen exercise patience and a good attitude. Our 4yr old daughter went three consecutive days and was MUCH better and more confident by the end!

As a fellow business owner, I am typically very hesitant to leave negative feedback. However, our recent experience was so disappointing that I felt it necessary to bring these issues to your attention. Despite booking well in advance and arriving early, our day was marred by significant logistical failures and a lack of professional courtesy. While we appreciated the kindness shown by the children's instructor, Scott, it became clear that your program is not equipped to handle children who require any level of additional encouragement. Furthermore, the administrative staff coordinating the groups lacked the patience and compassion necessary for a family-oriented environment. The experience was even more frustrating for my husband’s adult lesson. Despite arriving an hour early, he was bounced between disorganized lines for equipment. By the time the staff managed the intake process, he was told he was "late" and needed to reschedule. We received no apologies and no assistance in rectifying the error made by your own staff. We traveled to Colorado with high expectations, but the lack of organization and poor customer service we encountered means we will not be returning, nor can we recommend your services to others. I look forward to hearing how you intend to address these service failures.

Our daughter just went for 4 days and they were so patient and kind woth her. She had a blast and learned so much. This was our most successful ski school experience , especially for a kiddo that normally is very hesitant. The instructions were amazing and the staff was so responsive and helpful.
