Ice Centre at the Promenade with Hyland Hills Hockey Association

Visited the pro shop with some help to get fitted for some new skates. The worker was super helpful and pulled all kinds of sizes out for me to try on! And there was no pressure to buy either. I want to think about it, but when I'm ready I'm going back! Their prices also seem so much better than most pro shops. Highly recommend their pro shop!

Not Queer Friendly! Open Ice Is UNSUPERVISED My partner and I went to the open ice skating on Friday (01/09/2026) and were repeatedly harassed by a fellow skater. The fellow skater perceived my partner and I as queer and made a number of offensive comments to us. The skater filmed us, yelled at us, called us slurs, slushed ice on us via hockey stops, skated backwards in front of us while filming and harassing us. Multiple times. There was no attendant at any point that we could clearly identify to address the problem. If there was an attendant they did nothing about the clearly harassing behavior. When we brought the issue to management, they said they knew who the skater was and that he has been an issue in the past. My question is, if you know this skater has been an issue why is he allowed to skate the open ice? Why is he allowed in your building if you know he is a problem? Follow-up question: if you know there have been incidents at open ice, where was the attendant/security this Friday? I would say our harassment on the ice was not only unsafe for us (it lead to us falling a number of times trying to avoid the harasser) it was also dangerous for other skaters. I would not take a beginner skater here. I would not take any queer person here. I would not take children here because there are no safety or security personnel at the free skate. This establishment has made in incredibly clear that they do not care what happens on their ice but both not supervising, and doing nothing to stop the behavior from reoccurring. This is not a safe place and I am utterly disgusted by my visit. @Management: If you continue to permit hateful people to your establishment without pushback or action on your end, you are going to create a hate group that people can skate at, not a safe recreational area in the community. I urge you to take this incredibly seriously unless the skater we encountered is the type of patron you are hoping to attract and maintain.

Huge building, multiple rinks, a lot of cool banners from past championships etc. also connected to BENDERS a local favorite sports bar/restaurant that allows us to bring beers into to ice arena to watch some hockey. Also you can watch the main arena from inside benders!! Very cool.

For years, this ice center has been a cherished second home for my daughter as she is practicing daily. We're truly grateful for the wonderful coaches and the staff's inspiring energy.
