High Plains Library District

Rating every library in Colorado! (See credentials at the bottom) Erie Community Library- HPLD S-Tier library in my Colorado library hop!!! I almost gave it an A-Tier because it isn’t quite as modern or big as LINC or Anythink Nature Library- but the incredible amount of community fun, events, clubs, and all around fun pushes it into S-Tier in my opinion. This library is BIG! With the children’s section being its own half the building which makes in both incredibly engaging, and gives the children a place to be as child like, fun and loud as they want while still having plenty of quiet to silent areas for adults! This library has games, puzzles and MORE for check out! Which is so exciting! They also have SO many of the most fun events, clubs and community engagment NO MATTER your hobbies! I promise you can find SOMETHING you will want to engage with here- whether it is a club, an event, a class, a maker space, or a show! Plenty for ALL ages and always have some sort of big event which i LOVE. It is also quite beautiful inside with lovely modern touches, plenty of group and private seating, entertainment and always something new to explore. Theres also lots of fun displays that make me giggle. Theres a new book section right up from and outdoor seating as well. This is a great library to bring friends, to study, to walk in to an event or club, to check out games to bring home and SO much more! It’s also right next to the park and other Erie buildings! The restrooms are right up front, and a community board to post YOUR things on, next to the very LARGE collection of library clubs, events, classes and displays. I LOVED the lost library cup display, the puzzle swap, the game shelf and that there are plenty of adult centered activities, events, clubs or classes for every one- (and TWICE as many for kids and families) Definetly going in my S-Tier of libraries and I had a lot of fun and excitment checking out everything Erie has to offer. I’ll be back for more fun! I am an avid library hopper with over a dozen library cards across the country. Recently I moved to Colorado have been exploring their immense library systems. First of all- Colorados funding, attention and passion for their library systems is one of the most refreshing, inspiring and positive changes the whole country needs more of; incredible work Colorado, you have gained a new permanent resident. Every single library in the High Plains library district, and Anythink Library system is packed to the BRIM with resources, community engagement, support, learning, active community building, events, and all out FUN!! If you are from anywhere in the country- I strongly reccomend trying out Colorado for just a few months. The infrastructure, community relationships, government support, medical and financial support and all around vibes- is not only a utopia unique to Colorado, but makes living so much easier.

Great library. Lots of great spots to sit and read. The Maker space looks amazing. The staff is helpful.

They have many great educational and social events here, the librarians are awesome, and there is a great selection of checkouts available. Don't forget that you can request items as well. This is a gem of Erie!

It's my favorite place to hang out with my friends, during finals we basically live there. The services are always really effective and easy to use, the staff is very kind and patient with us when we leave 1 minute until closing. It's always clean and easy to find books or movies I wanna check out. They are always checking in with the community through polls and other activities. My friends especially like the threads program. It's a great place to have meeting and overall just hang out in a relaxing environment. I get so much work done while I'm here, I cannot praise it enough.

Beautiful library and super helpful staff. Tons of cool toys for kiddos & a great outdoor play area!
