Gather & Grow Therapy

a Speech and Language Pathologist, Jessie Gortsema, created a tool for me to assess my capacities on a daily basis in five key areas: physical, cognitive, emotional, social, and sensory. this tool is changing my life. it's a tool that invites reflection on my capacities in the current moment by calling attention to specific aspects of life; for example, i am invited in one section to consider how levels of pain might impact my ability to walk and stand; in another section, i am asked to think about how i'm doing with focus and attention. on the surface it appears simple, but because it encourages awareness across multiple areas of function/experience, i am beginning to experience less fragmentation and an increased sense of wholeness. i believe that i may be making better decisions as well. although my natural tendency to focus on one issue at a time is good in some ways, i am now receiving help with integrating my awareness in a broad way. i feel a great deal of gratitude for this change in my life, and i really want to see what else might come from using this tool.

Incredibly unprofessional experience. The office looks like a dirty kindergarten in Lafayette. We walked in to see if this might be a good fit for my daughter who has nuerodivergent afflictions and, despite the lack of attention to us, we felt the appearance and at the office might have even worsen our daughters affliction. There are hardly any windows in the place, it feels very claustrophobic, and we will not be going back. It looked like it was being run by a sloppy group of unprofessionals. NO THANK YOU

I have been working with Jessie for over a year now and she has been a God-send!!!! Long Covid set me back in terms of word recall, short-term memory, organizational issues, and plenty more. She has supported me in so many life-changing ways!! She helped me build structure in my cognitive chaos by listening to the areas I was struggling with and finding practical solutions! I have a system now and it's all thanks to Jessie!!! She's the best!!!!!

My husband had an incredible first session. The office is cozy and filled with sensory accomodations. The staff are similarly lovely!

I am very happy with Gather and Grow so far. My kiddo has been having speech therapy and occupational therapy services for over a year. This is a great place for everyone, but especially tweens and teens. The team is absolutely wonderful!
