Eldora Mountain Resort Nordic Center

We have always enjoyed Nordic skiing, and have historically always enjoyed visiting the Nordic Center at Eldora. So much so, we bought a season pass for this year. Unfortunately, Mother Nature did not grant a great year for snow (as we all well know). More unfortunately still, this Nordic center seems pleased to take people’s money and only offer limited terrain for about a month now, and will not even entertain reasonable requests of a refund or deferral for an upcoming season (a practice that other Nordic centers do). The center isn’t even selling day passes this year, which tells you have rough it is there. I don’t foresee a reason to ever buy a season pass here again with the lack of service, and will look for alternative Nordic areas for my winters. I am updating this a week later. After only partially opening a few trails 5 weeks ago, and refusing reimbursement, the Nordic Center abruptly closed for the season yesterday. I hope to receive a refund or deferral now.

Maybe I like this because, on my field trip, my classmates did good (after I was they helped me with how I ride the ski and they are friendly people I like that place

We were in Boulder on route to Eldora when Boulder Canyon Road was closed due to a missing person investigation. It was snowing like crazy and the road conditions were horrible. We only had a half-day Nordic pass that expired at 4:00pm. It would have taken us more than 2 hours to drive all the way around in the horrible road conditions for only an hour of nordic skiing (it was a why bother)! Eldora is allowing us to reschedule to a different day, but not without a per ticket charge / penalty. So now it's going to cost us 50% more to ski a half day when the closing of Boulder Canyon was beyond our control (and the alternate route was more than 2 hours out of our way). Make sense to you? I will avoid Eldora in the future!

Not a great Nordic center for those who are newer to XC skiing. The green trail you have to take to reach other trails (17th Ave) felt more like a blue trail and not beginner friendly. There is also only one Nordic track on the two way trails which seems like something they could include given the price of entry. Often the Nordic track would disappear on the hills which is seemingly when you would want it most. The atmosphere is beautiful but I did not care to listen to the house music that they blasted at the ski lodge - which can be heard for a good portion of the trails we did.

I have been three times and taken two lessons. The trails are beautiful and well groomed and marked, it is very easy to find your way around. Tom, I believe, is the manager and he runs a great crew. They are very helpful with gear rentals and helping people plan which trails to explore and avoiding the Death Fang Hill descent when you don't want that. The instructors (Mirka and Eva) were top notch and did an excellent job breaking the skills down into components and teaching those component parts.
