El Pueblo History Museum

Beautiful museum. Great for events too. We had a wedding there.

I brought my family here expecting to learn about the old El Pueblo trading post and the history of the city of Pueblo but this museum barely mentions anything about it. The entire focus is on race issues and labor strikes. There are no artifacts from El Pueblo on display and the entirety of the museum is large placards on the wall with text in English and Spanish. After about 10 minutes I asked the employees where the rest of the museum was but they said that is all they have. They seemed used to have disappointed visitors. Don’t waste the $10 admission fee on this museum. You can see the actual excavated remains of El Pueblo just outside the museum for free. The large modern building the museum is located in is just wasted space. We visited on a Sunday afternoon and the parking lot was empty. I also noticed the last signature in the guest book was from the day before so maybe most people already know to avoid this place. I know we will never go back.

Beautiful museum but kind of small. Almost half of what is advertised was closed and we weren’t able to fully access majority of the building. The trading post was also closed. They do have a gift shop as well.

I enjoyed this museum but as others have mentioned, it is kind of small because parts of it were closed. I also wish more history about Pueblo, after Colorado became a state was included but the early history included was informational. My favorite part was the exhibit about the steel workers strikes. That was inspirational. If I could I would give 3.5 stars because that more accurately represents my experience. I don't think paying $7 was unreasonable even with parts of the museum closed.

Small museum about the history of El Pueblo. Nice to visit, we walked through it under 1 hour and read almost everything. Some nice things for kids to do, but could be more interactive. It was a bit boring for my school kid, 10. Staff was very sweet. There is also a little museum shop with some regional craft works and a small art gallery. We liked the time.
