Dinosaur Ridge is a nice place to walk. It's a paved road closed off to all auto traffic except a tour bus that's pretty slow. The side of the road closest to the mountain edge is for bikers. The side close to the rock is for everyone else. The bus uses this side, too, so just avoid it, which is easy. Both parking at the visitor center or on the other side of the hill is fine for walking. The walk itself is mostly uphill from either side and thus downhill on the other. As this is flat and paved, it's really good for strollers. Just note this'll be a bit up an uphill workout pushing a stroller! There's also a big sandbox with toys at the visitor center. Wonderful views and fascinating exhibits.

Excellent experience. We took the bus tour. We'll worth it. Stopping along the roadway and explaining all the details the signs don't give you. Great Exhibit Hall with loads of fun facts. There is also an area for children to experience the process of fossil hunting.

Amazing! Do not miss! This is one of the world's top paleontological spots. Expect to find well-preserved fossil trackways in what was back in the dino days a ‘Dinosaur Freeway’ prepare for this to convince even the most sceptical!

We did the guided bus tour, which I definitely recommend- I am not opposed to hiking, but my kids were tired of hot walks! Also, good info learned- a bonus for homeschooling!

Great for a walk but we were extremely underwhelmed with dinosaur stuff. Husband is a Denver native and I’ve lived down here with him since 1990 and we’ve neither one ever been to DR so the other day we had an appt on the west side of town and so, after an excellent and very filling lunch at Dumpling Bay, we were looking for a spot for a nice walk and we finally decided to visit. The views are outstanding. It was a beautiful, warm day. We didn’t realize it was an up and over kind of thing and parked on the Red Rocks side as opposed to the Visitors Center side. We will def go back and park at the visitors center as I’m sure there are some interesting things going on there. We didn’t see a lot walking up to the top from the other side. We just didn’t have time to do the entire thing.
