As a recent graduate, I had a generally positive experience at this university. I earned my bachelor's degree in Biology, and most of the Biology department faculty were knowledgeable, supportive, and genuinely willing to help students succeed. One area that could be improved is the degree requirements, which can be confusing to navigate. I highly recommend meeting with an academic advisor as early as possible to ensure you understand the requirements and stay on track for graduation. I also believe some professors, particularly in Chemistry and Human Anatomy, should be evaluated based on student feedback. These are already challenging subjects, and having professors who are approachable, supportive, and willing to help students understand the material makes a significant difference. Parking is another major issue. While I know the university is working to improve the situation, the changes need to happen more quickly because finding parking can be extremely frustrating. Finally, I was disappointed with the CMU Promise program. While I understand why eligibility is based on parental income, it did not reflect my personal circumstances. My parents did not contribute to my college expenses, and I made it a personal goal to graduate debt-free. To achieve that, I worked four jobs while attending school full-time. Despite explaining my situation to the financial assistance office, I was unable to receive additional aid. I wish the university would consider a student's individual financial situation, rather than relying solely on parental income, for students who are financially independent in practice. Overall, I had a good experience and appreciate the support I received from many of the faculty and staff. However, clearer degree planning, improvements to parking, stronger accountability for teaching quality in certain departments, and a more flexible approach to financial aid would make the university an even better place for future students.

From what we have seen it looks like a beautiful campus and the students there to help out those moving in have been really nice and helpful

I enjoy the campus a lot. I have several kids that attend. Decent teachers. Heard the psychology department is awesome.
