Colorado Christian University

I do not recommend this University for military or prior military individuals. Their finance department is a complete soup sandwich and only ONE student advisor is assigned for the entire military community. They mischarged the VA for my classes then sent me a bill to be paid immediately for over 4k. As a disabled veteran I asked for a little time to pay it off and they declined. Placed a hold on my student account until their mistake is paid off. Not to mention I called and emailed several times during my transition from active duty to VA.

This is my college I do it online but it's amazing I came to campus today to get a photo ID student ID and got to walk around and check stuff out and I'm not up around the school itself very much but I'm proud to know that I'm a part of this school and that they are a part of me. (It is hard to be a student or a parent and be spending what we spend on schooling which is a lot these days I'm sure it always has been but I went to the school store and I bought a t-shirt literally just a t-shirt was 25.00 I usually don't pay for things like shirts or if I do they are on clearance for 3 to 5 dollars and I have clothes and I have nice clothes but I have a hard time spending that much money on a t-shirt) Seems to me if people want to sell more stuff they dropped the price just a little bit to make it a little bit more affordable for everybody to be able to wear and be proud of what they're wearing. I know it costs to make the stuff and to ship it and everything is going up in price but this is where my stick is about everything these days it's not well when you pay what you pay for the education that you're getting which is a quality education, then you don't have any money left over for little things that you want. ) (I bought a t-shirt a pendant and a sticker $36 out the door) just saying if you want to take home some swag there isn't very much of it to choose from bring extra money

Overall, I have loved my experience and my education at CCU. I do think your experience can vary greatly depending on your degree program as CCU is better at some programs than others. The professors have been amazing and supportive the classes are challenging and fast paced. The only knock I have against the university is that they should have classes available every semester, not just during certain times of the year. I say this because if a student has to retake a class or delay their program by a semester it should delay their graduation 1 semester. Not a whole year because they only offer classes during certain windows. That's my only knock as it limits flexibility.

This comes from interacting with their students and graduates. Aside from the usual complaints of a veneer of faith and pricing, their education is subpar and under prepares graduates for their respective fields. One area to note was their teacher and special education sections. The students are not trained or prepared to know how far they can go before violating 504's/IEPs and practicing medicine without a license. I had the misfortune of a student that blatantly admitted to such practices during their student teaching years. When rebuked, they insulted doctors and teachers that have had decades of experience properly handling these issues. They also insulted disabled veterans and to them they had no idea how their lifelong disability worked because they didn't go to school for it. The conditions involved were ADHD, Autism, and PTSD. This student had no teaching license or medical license at that time. A review of the curriculum showed that no safeguards or training to prevent this haughty attitude existed. This student went on to practice in the Colorado Springs school district, which has a decades long history of encouraging this behavior.

CCU is an excellent place for our growing young adults. It is Bible based and the students seem to love the professors. If you look up Christian Universities and Colleges, CCU is at the top of the list for staying focused on Christ. The student apartments are absolutely amazing as well. And the food, at least when parents are on campus, is first rate.
