The kids who love this choir, LOVE it. The performances were amazing and it is a true professional kids choir. However, my kiddo didn’t stay in the whole year because it just wasn’t fun for her. Each week she sat in a chair for an hour and learned songs, but there weren’t any games, they weren’t allowed to move from their seat. Nothing to make it fun or engaging. A balance of fun and seriousness would have been much better. Because of this, my kiddo never really got to bond with the other kids, nor did it ever feel like a community. Because of this experience, she doesn’t like choir anymore. It felt like we were there as parents to give an exorbitant amount of money ($1000 plus for yearly tuition, $300+ for tickets, you have to buy the music to listen to/watch your child’s performance, you have to purchase shoes/socks) and that’s it. We paid for all of the above and still were constantly hounded to donate. They didn’t teach music (at least not at her level- she was prep). The only thing we got out of it was one good day in which we got to see our daughter perform downtown.

As an alum and avid concert goer, I can honestly say that not only are the concerts a joy to attend, but what the Chorale does for the kids involved is invaluable. Also—they offer mentorship and services to Colorado schools at no cost because they know how critical arts programming is for the development and education of our youth. They really are one of Denver’s unique stars, and we are lucky to have them.
