Christ Church Denver

Visited the church today for the first time. Great sermon, pretty building and nice people. Service was great, i really felt closer to God. Rev. Terry was great! I'm trying to find a new church home but I have a feeling I'll be back!

I visited for the first time on Easter Sunday. People in the congregation were friendly and nice, but the general feel I got from the lead rector was one of irreverence. I personally felt that he spoke in a way from the pulpit to receive laughs, and less so in a way that would draw people’s attention to the magnificence of Christ Risen. Additionally, right before a baptism, he started splashing unsuspecting members of the congregation with water from the baptismal as a joke. I was really turned off by it because it felt cavalier and disrespectful. Taking the consecrated waters of baptism to playfully splash on people standing nearby in order to get shock value and laughter just isn’t an approach that lands well across the board. Others may appreciate this approach, but it’s not one I care for. When the service was over, I made the decision not to return.

Christ Church is an amazing place - I felt at home almost immediately. The congregation is warm, welcoming and diverse. The services in their beautiful chapel are spirit-filled and uplifting with plenty of music and sermons that are inspiring and relevant with a great dash of humor. Fr Terry greets us by name every time! Excellent programs for children and teens, too.

Christ Church is filled with love, caring, and the Holy Spirit. This has been my home since fall of 1990. I came broken and this place has healed me, taught me, restored me, and continues to do so. Father Terry is also the most consistently amazing preacher I've ever heard. I've served God, in this place, in a large variety of ways and continually find new ways to grow and experience his love through the Word, the people of this community, and prayer. There is something for everyone, come join us!

When we started looking for a church home in Denver a year ago, we knew our search ended here. We've rarely been in such a welcoming church. The truth of the Bible is preached and taught, people are so warm and welcoming, and Jesus is glorified in and through the ministries here.
