Cheyenne Mountain Zoo

Absolutely loved this zoo! 🦒🤍It’s beautiful, clean, has incredible mountain views, and the animals in the encounters genuinely looked happy and well cared for. And the amount of giraffes?! Omg so lovely! I can definitely see why Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is ranked #2 in the country. such a beautiful experience and absolutely worth the visit! 🏔️🦒🤎 the food area and the coffee shop/ gift shop are very nice and clean areas. We loved our visit! And don’t forget to ride the sky ride! First thing in the morning was perfect for us! The views are amazing you get to see the bear and tiger from above. takes about 7 minutes each way and gives you views over the zoo, Cheyenne Mountain, and Colorado Springs. A must visit when in Colorado!!

Cheyenne Mountain Zoo has some genuinely memorable highlights. The mountainside setting is beautiful, and the giraffe exhibit alone is worth experiencing. We also enjoyed the penguins, elephants, lemurs, and wallabies. We spent about an hour and a half there and were able to see everything without feeling rushed. For the $34.95 admission, I personally expected a little more. Several exhibits were closed or under construction, some habitats were empty, and quite a few animals were either sleeping or difficult to spot during our visit. The layout wasn't my favorite. Because it's built into the side of a mountain, expect plenty of hills and a fair amount of backtracking. It's accessible, but those hills could be challenging for some visitors. Parking was easy, although getting into the lot was a little slow. I can definitely understand why they use timed-entry reservations. I am spoiled by the Cincinnati Zoo, so take this with that in mind. While I probably wouldn't make a return trip, I'm still glad we visited. If you're in Colorado Springs and haven't been before, it's worth experiencing once for the unique setting and the opportunity to get so close to the giraffes.

Amazing zoo and a super fun day for my almost 4 year old and I! Feeding the giraffes was so cool and the staff and volunteers were super nice and explained things we were seeing. I loved doing down the big slides with my kiddo. I wore basketball type shorts and I went so fast down them! My daughter wore Jean shorts and didn’t go fast. I had the 9 o’clock entry and parking along with traffic was so easy. We left about noon and the traffic and parking was full. Bring some ones in cash to buy bird feeding sticks!

Great place for families, but also for people like me, exploring by myself. Plenty to see. Very highly conservation conscious. The feeding times and demonstrations are great for all ages and very education. They do a great job of not making it feel like the animals are just there for show, but they use the time to engage people in taking care of them. There is a sky lift for something like $6 and that is sooooo awesome!!! There is also a shuttle to take you to the different areas which really came in handy. The little golf cart shuttles are also Ada compliant if that’s a concern for you. It is $3 for the full day. If you pay at the shuttle it is cash only. But they do have an atm. Or you can pay at the front (which I recommend). Some of the staff didn’t know answers to questions, which I found really frustrating, but ultimately, the staff has pretty good customer service… ESPECIALLY: the girl who ran the lift at the top.

My friend and I had a wonderful time at the zoo celebrating her birthday! We got tickets for the 2:00 pm entry since that was $10 cheaper than going earlier in the day. We ended up entering the zoo closer to 2:30 since we drove up to the Shrine of the Sun around 1:45 and didn't realize how long it would take to get up, go to the drop of the shrine, and come back down to the zoo parking lot - you have to drive through the zoo itself (very slowly, and waiting since it's through pedestrian areas) so that made it take longer than expected. It was cool to see the shrine and the view from the top though! The zoo was awesome!!! I would recommend maybe 4 hours if you want to see everything and not feel too rushed, in 2.5 hours we saw *most* things but not everything and felt a bit rushed toward the end trying to fit more in and got confused and turned around. I loved seeing all the animals, the meercats were especially adorable, and I got to pet one of the giraffes while feeding it!!! Amazing!!! All the staff we encountered and talked to were fantastic and kind and made the experience even better, so lovely! Thanks so much for a fun day!!
