Calvary has been "home" to me for several years. The worship services are thought-provoking and emotionally supportive. The small groups are varied and welcoming. The pastoral staff is talented and approachable; the music is really good! Last night's Good Friday service conducted jointly with New Hope Baptist was one of the best ever!
View on Google ↗I have grown up in this church, raised my family here, and continue to attend, appreciating the ways in which this kind community is open to changing, growing, learning, and being intentional about how the church and its people show up in the world. Calvary is "Open to All; Closed to None" and they truly live up to it, and are willing to listen and transform if not. If you are looking for a safe space as a person in the LGBTQIA+ community, Calvary is officially "Welcoming and Affirming" and will not only welcome you, but affirm and celebrate you- no agenda to change you. We believe all people are created in God's image, just as they are. Calvary is also intentional about justice modeled by the Gospel, and has partnerships and connections, learning and volunteer opportunities in being the hands and feet of Christ in this way. Staff/Clergy are top notch, sermons are thought provoking, relevant, and clearly driven by deep biblical study, and comprehensive knowledge. Staff is wonderfully personable. They truly care about each and every one of CBC's members, and also work to live out a work/life balance and model self care. Understanding that intellectualism/science and faith are not mutually exclusive, embracing complexity and nuance, avoiding binary thinking, taking scripture seriously, using art and creativity, and so much more are found here. The leadership model is great, with transparency and many opportunities and encouragement to get involved. Grief support/memorial services are better here than any others I've seen, done with tenderness, ritual, and detail. Engaging and caring community. The music is phenomenal! Beautiful sanctuary and organ, as well as the chapel and the Foot of The Cross Courtyard which is a sacred space and columbarium/memorial site. Safe and engaging opportunities for children, youth, and every age group. Calvary's statement: "Calvary is a Christ-like community that experiences and shares God's love. Calvary welcomes and affirms all people as children of God from every cultural and religious background, sexual orientation, family composition, physical and mental ability, economic means, race, age, and gender."

View on Google ↗If you're looking for a church home that provides a nurturing environment for spiritual growth, I highly recommend Calvary Baptist Church. I joined this church three years ago after relocating to to Colorado from the Midwest, and the church body at Calvary has become like family to me. It has helped me to overcome one of the greatest challenges of my life, losing my mother. One thing Calvary specializes in is radiating a warm, heartfelt, welcome that isn't too intrusive. It's a very diverse congregation, with people from different racial and cultural backgrounds. The thing that ties us all together is our focus on being a loving and inclusive community, even for those that are still disparaged by other churches such as gays, lesbians, immigrants, and the disabled. The church's theme is "Open to all, closed to none" and Calvary does a great job of living out this creed. The sermons are always grounded in the Bible, relevant, and taught with a great humility.
