We had such a great first experience at Breckenridge Ski & Snowboard School on Peak 8! We signed up for the adult half-day lesson, and it was our very first time ever putting on ski equipment. Make sure to arrive about an hour early so you have time to get fitted for ski boots and sized for your helmet and skis. The check-in process was very easy, and the staff were all friendly and helpful. Our instructor was incredibly kind, patient, and informative. Since we had zero knowledge going in, it was so helpful that he started with the absolute basics — how to clip into the skis, how to take small steps, proper form, and positioning. We practiced on the moving carpet up a small hill and worked on going down, stopping, and turning. He also gave individualized feedback, which made a big difference in building confidence. I would definitely recommend doing multiple lessons if you can, but even just the half-day gave us a great foundation to build on. Such a positive experience overall!
View on Google ↗My kids (ages 9, 7 and 4 years) had a blast at Peak 8 Ski school and all showed improvements. Check in was a breeze. Kids got their lift tickets, jackets got tagged and I signed rental agreements (since kids were renting through the school). They took the kids to get fitted for ski equipment and I left. The older two had updates via the myepic app. The youngest one had pictures and updates added to the app throughout the day. Highly recommend!
View on Google ↗I booked a half-day snowboard lesson for my son who is 4 years old. Breckenridge's staff was really amazing. We had to get our rental early in the AM, so that and being fully layered up while getting the rental contributed to my son's crankiness. #1 tip is to get your gear the day prior before they close. You need to pick up your kid's gear at the school and not Breck Sports. The school closes earlier than Breck Sports. Initially, I was really worried about sinking a lot of money into lessons because kids can be fickle and also instructors can be hit or miss. My son cried for about 30 minutes into check-in, but the instructors (Coach Mac) were very patient with him. They made every effort to cheer him up on some playground equipment and make snowboarding fun for him. My son was still crying, but he said he would try snowboarding. The staff will politely encourage you to check out so that kids don't try and run to you if they are having a hard time. I grabbed a coffee nearby and then watched from a distance. Once my son got his "first run" in, Coach Mac did a great job at building my son's confidence. My son's confidence grew after every run because Coach Mac was very encouraging and gave good feedback. My son was progressed so well and built a good connection to his instructors that we had to splurge on a second half-day of lessons. Best of all, we even got Coach Mac again. At the end of the second day, my son told Coach Mac that when he grew up that he wanted to be a snowboard teacher just like him. Thank you to the Peak 8 staff for building up my son's confidence and his love of snow sports.

View on Google ↗Mixed Experience at Ski School – Great Afternoon, Disappointing Morning We attended a full-day ski school today and had very mixed feelings about it. The morning session was a complete disappointment. Our instructor, Kevin, spent more time talking about expensive houses, his personal life, and medical history than actually teaching. He wasn’t watching his students, and at no point did we receive meaningful instruction. Two students even left the group, and he didn’t seem to notice. Multiple breaks were taken, but nothing was accomplished. The class was also poorly structured—two students were still working on wedge turns, while we had signed up for an intermediate class expecting to refine our technique on blue runs. At lunch, we went to the office to address our concerns. The two ladies at the front desk were helpful, but our interaction with Adam H. was frustrating. He may be the ski school supervisor, but his attitude toward customers came off as dismissive and condescending. We originally requested to be compensated with another full-day lesson on a different day, but he refused. When I asked about a refund for the wasted morning, he unnecessarily pointed out that it was "only a $40 difference," which felt dismissive of our time. He did refund us, but the way he handled it left a bad impression—someone in his role should be more customer-focused. Thankfully, the afternoon was a completely different experience. Our new instructor, William, was fantastic. He quickly identified our weaknesses, provided immediate, actionable feedback, and in just an hour, we felt like completely different skiers. He guided us through drills that truly improved our skills, and although we mostly stayed on green runs, our confidence and technique improved significantly. Overall, our experience was a tale of two halves. If we had started the day with William, we would be giving this ski school a glowing review. However, the disorganized morning and poor customer service left us with mixed feelings. If you take lessons here, I hope you get assigned an instructor like William—someone who is attentive, knowledgeable, and actually helps you improve.
