camper reviewing. i stayed in the tilly cabin, this was my first year. the showers all have black mold in them and half of them dont work. the curtains dont stay shut and anybody could open them at any time. also, the floor outside of them floods when you shower. the cabins themselves are fine, they get FREEZING at night but thats my own fault for not bringing more blankets. if this is your first year, bring an extra blanket to use as a curtain since its 12 bunk beds. the counselors are AMAZING, they were absolutely the best part of this camp. all of the cabins ages 3(ish?)- 17(ish?) are all grouped together in the activities, and if you dont sign up in time you dont get to do certain activities since theres a person limit. any time you need to change your activities you need to go to the office and talk to someone about it. also, if you're only staying one week you dont need a second waterbottle, sleeping bag, or the camelback. they make the hikes sound really intense but really the only hike i did there as a 1 weeker was the hike i was signed up for since all the other activities were taken and that was the only one left. bring a digital clock or something too, theres no clocks in tilly and yet youre supposed to go to places and activities at a specific time, so they just let you figure that out. also, they have a buddy system which doesnt seem like an issue at first, except for the camp is huge and everybody has different activities at different times. i got left in the cabin alone alot where i had to walk to my activities across the entire camp alone, which you can get in alot of trouble for. the food is actually really good, i signed up to be a waitress and the chef is a really nice dude. he makes special meals for the people that have allergies or intolerances. as a waitress nobody really tells you what to do or how to do things so that sucks. before every meal you do a song prayer, but nobody really flames you if you dont do it. there is a LOT of singing which is to be expected. i did run out of clothes at the end of the week even though i had about 2 suitcases, so bring more than you think you need. alot of the girls in my cabin brought trunks to put their clothes in and that looked really useful. also, bring a little bag to carry around, i regretted not bringing one so badly, i only had this big fat hiking bag that was way too heavy to carry around. film class is super fun, even if you dont like acting you can help with props or photography. i joined late and i regret that, definitely let that be one of your first classes. theres no freedom at all, which isnt odd for a summer camp but dont expect it. you cant leave the cabin at all unless youre going to an activity or a meal, which sucks since its such a beautiful camp. i really wanted to just walk around. theres alot of walking uphill so bring comfortable shoes, and definitely put some insoles in for the padding. you arent really outside at night too much, so bring more summer clothes than cold weather clothes, but still definitely bring cold weather clothes. also bring 2 swimsuits. if you dont know anyone going there, then definitely expect to be pretty lonely for the first few days, especially if you dont fit in with popular girls/guys. also, when you go to the mess hall you sit with your cabin at a designated table. i dont usually write reviews but i decide to write this one since it was really frustrating being there and nobody telling me what to do, and almost none of this information is on the website, so i hope if you plan to go this helps. overall, this camp isnt quite worth the money as a teenager, but its a good camp. i met some really cool people here. (bring a few papers with your phone number on it if you dont have it memorized)

I’m not sure why the other reviewer left one star without any context whatsoever. But it prompted me to do the opposite and offer insight to our AWESOME experience at BMR. This AMAZING family owned multi generational camp is a treasure in the Colorado mountains. I’ve been acquainted with the Grafs most of my life and sent both of my children here last summer. It changed them for the better. In this tech obsessed world, giving your children the gift of unplugging and having a good old fashioned camp experience is an irreplaceable experience for anyone wanting a deeper connection with nature. The kids were well cared for and felt safe and supported. We’re going to be sending our son back every summer for as many years as we can! Love BMR! 💙

I sent two children (11 & 12) here this summer and they had a wonderful time. They both have repeatedly asked to go back next year. This is a family run camp with very kind people and counselors who understood the kids needs thoroughly and took great care of them. I love that I knew the kids would be out in nature doing interesting things, and not on electronics.

A wonderful way to have children experience the joys of a mountain camp with other children. This camp is a member of the American Camping Association and adheres to their high standard. "A friend is worth a mountain made of gold."

Every step of the way this camp has been amazing. I just picked up my girls yesterday and they are already begging to go back next year. Tim and the whole crew were amazing, friendly, responsive and welcoming. So grateful my kids got to make some wonderful memories and new friends.
